About Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Bhagat Singh, the great revolutionary freedom fighter, was born on September 28, 1907, in Punjab to Kishan Singh and Vidyavati, Bhagat Singh. He was hanged at the age of 23 by the British government along with his mates Sukhdev and Rajguru in Lahore for killing a British police officer, John Saunders. It was his revenge on the police officer who was responsible for the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, a founder of the National College who was killed during his silent march against the Simon commission. John Saunders had ordered a lathi charge where Lala Lajpat Rai was beaten badly, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
