Sai Baba of Shirdi was an Indian spiritual leader. Nobody knows where he came from and where he was born, but he died on 15 October 1918.
Most of the information is there from the book Shri Sai Satcharitra, written by one of his devotees in Marathi.
Identified as a saint or fakir and regarded as the manifestation of Sri Dattaguru by his devotees, He was famous among Hindu and Muslim devotees at his time and even after his death is still uncertain if he was Hindu or Muslim. He never revealed to anyone his past or religion.
His teaching never distinguishes between Hindu or Muslim. He explained the importance of surrendering to the true Satguru and the realization of self.
Having no love towards perishable things, his teaching concentrates on love, forgiveness and helping others. He practised both Hindu and Muslim rituals.
His well-known sayings are ‘Allah Malik’, which means ‘God is king’ and ‘Sabka Malik Ek’, which means ‘Everyone’s Master is One’. These two of his sayings are associated with both Hindu and Islam.
Even though nobody knows where he comes from, he has spent his remaining life in Shirdi, a small village in India. He spent his life as a beggar, dressed in torn clothes and had no need for materialistic items.
Sai Baba lived in an abandoned mosque called Dwarkamayi and took his food from different people by going door to door with his begging bowl.
There was a Divine fire In the mosque that he kept burning all the time. People believe that He was burning the Karma of the people and his devotees who came to him.
He was healing the people of Shirdi and guiding them on all levels. Even the people from different villages came to him for guidance when the words started spreading.
Even though he had left his physical form in 1918, his power and divine energy are available everywhere. People still love him and worship him.
